Hello bc educator,

A team of researchers at the University of British Columbia is conducting a study on teacher wellness. You have been invited to participate in this study because we want to learn more about teachers’ experiences and perceptions of wellness, from our teachers themselves. This study will involve participants completing an online questionnaire and a select few teachers completing a follow-up interview with the research team to further explore your questionnaire responses.

Why should you participate in this study?

Currently, British Columbia and much of North America are facing a crisis in attracting and retaining teachers in the profession. Research tells us that teacher stress remains high and job satisfaction low - factors only amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. While there is a lot of research into the individual factors underlying teacher wellness, little is known about teachers’ perceptions of the systemic and external variables underlying wellness. Ultimately, this research will lead to discussions and insights into the realities of wellness for our teachers, and the potential to identify areas of needed intervention and support in hopes of keeping our teachers healthy and feeling supported.
